"A Man's Best Friend"
or
"Oh Dear"

When we last left our hero, he had just discovered his destiny. He must play the game, and win. Can he trust the wizard who told him this? How will he take the news? Let’s find out.

Lights flashed everywhere; my body felt like it was travelling at high speeds, and standing still at the same time. I finally settled in the tea-room once more. “I’ll never get used to this new reset lark” I muttered to myself. I let everyone rush out into the land, like a hungry pack of hounds after the best bit of meet. It was now a few resets since Cat had told me why I was here. For the last couple I’d been sitting, thinking, trying to get my head around it. Well, who wouldn't have trouble coming to terms with being wrenched from your stable home, to a place far away, a place far different from what I knew, a place called mud for gods sake! But I’d spent too long thinking now. If I’m going to home, I need to win, and to win I need to play, and to play, I need to understand. No more time alone thinking, it’s time for action, it’s time to win!

“Have you any idea what that is” Cora whispered to me. I look in to the clearing and saw a small, about half a metre in length, white coloured, dog, with black splodges on it, fighting a zombie. “It’s a dog, another mobile I’d say, your and old hand here, you should know, not me, and why are we whispering?” I whispered back to Cora. “A dog you say,” Cora replied quietly “It’s new to me. It’s not a mobile, because I have hear of people seeing it killed before, and it just comes back as normal. I’ve heard it is very dangerous. A friend of a friend, said they saw it enter the world, in a flash it appeared. I’ve heard, a force more powerful then the wizzes them selves brought it into the land, because even the wizzes don’t know where it came from”. I looked over to see how the dog was doing. There were more zombies now, and the poor little thing was struggling to fight them all.

“We’ve got to help him,” I said, as I stood up ready to join the fight. “No, it’s too dangerous!” Cora warned as she put out a hand to stop me, but I dived into the attack regardless. I whipped out my dagger, and tore into them all at once. I was greatly outnumbered; there were 5 zombies in all. I myself had minor damage, so it was going to be a close fight. I dived over of one planting my dagger firmly in its back. A swift kick to its head later, and it was no more. I went for my dagger, and another zombie dived on top of me. A few more decided to join in the pile on, and I was struggling to get up. I suddenly heard the sounds of a few punches, and the weight on me started to decrease. I managed to fling the last few off. I turned to see Cora flinging one over her shoulder, followed by a swift break of its neck. I smiled at Cora, and she came over to give me a hand up. Out of nowhere a zombie appeared behind her, with my dagger in its hand! “Look out!” I shouted, and Cora spun around, startled she tripped and fell on me. The zombie loomed closer dagger posed ready to strike. A dash of white and black light passed in front of use and the zombie, and suddenly the dagger had gone. In the brief moment of complete confusion that the zombie had, Cora managed to roll off me quickly, and I dived at the zombie, finishing it off. I quickly got up to see if there were anymore, but it was over, they were all dead. I dropped to one knee by Cora. We both looked at each other, absolutely exhausted. We both laughed. I don’t know why, it was just funny. Cora turned her head, and I followed her eyesight. Standing there, was that white and black dog, with my dagger in its mouth. It walk over to us, dropped the dagger by me, sat down, and wagged its tail. I picked up my dagger and put it away. “Well you are a dangerous monster aren’t” I said as I patted it on the head. “What’s your name then boy?” I asked, as I searched for a dog collar, not expecting to find one, but sure enough, there it was. I read it out loud “Spunky”, and he barked as if to answer yes. Spunky stood up and made his way slowly to Cora, who was still on the floor. Even though he had saved our lives, Cora was still totally frightened of him, and froze with fear. Spunky finally got up to her face. Spunky put his nose in close and sniffed Cora, followed by a big sloppy dog style lick on the face. I laughed and said, “I think he likes you Cora”. Cora stood up slowly, and
spunky suddenly rushed away, coming back quickly with a satchel. The satchel was about the size of spunky himself. “What's this then boy?” I asked. Spunky pawed at the satchel, so I picked it up and looked inside. I took out a lump of coal. Cora said “The lump of coal is to kill the dragon, on its island, you through it in its mouth, and it dies. He must want us to go there.” Spunky back approvingly.

“This is the place, dragon’s island” I said to spunky as I tied up the dingy. Spunky barked, and then barked again, and again. “Ok ok, keep your fur on, I’m done now” I said as I turned too spunky. As I did, I saw what spunky was, and still was, barking at. The dragon! It was only 50 metres from me. It was big. Very big. “Oh dear” I said
