Episode 4 Life or An experience to die for

In the last episode we saw Cora die at the evil hands of the dwarf king, what is in store for our intrepid hero now, as his guide to the land is gone.

I couldn’t believe it. Cora is dead. I didn’t move. I just knelt there, where Cora once lay, and lowered my head. “Dam” said Foz, “The last set of guards are going to be harder now, we have only one muser, dam!” I rose my head and looked at the others. “Oh well, lets rest up ready for the last set” said cloud. I couldn’t believe it. Cora has just died, and they’re not bothered. “What is wrong with you people, Cora is dead!” I said. “Yer we know, what’s your point?” asked Foz. “My point is” I replied “that you lot are carrying on as if nothing was wrong, she has just died for gods sake, and all because of some measly points so you all can go up a level, it’s not right!” They all just looked at me puzzled. Zordell came over to me and said “It’s ok, her persona is dead, but she isn’t can come back. You see when someone here dies, they simply loose all the points they gathered, and start again, back in the tea room”. I was stunned. “So she’s ok then, safe, back in the tea room?” I asked, and zordell simply nodded. “Good job I have a spare box with me” said Cloud “we can put her share of the treasure in this”. “Treasure?” I asked.

“There, that’s the last of them, there all gone” said Foz pleased with himself. We shared the treasure between us, Cloud taking the throne. “How are you going to get that through the mines” I asked. Cloud just smiled and cryptically said “there are more then one ways, to skin cat” and with that, he disappeared through the mines. I followed Foz and Zordell to the swamp and we dumped our stuff into it. I was nearly a hero now, and feeling rather dam proud of myself.

THUD. Suddenly my gut was hurting, and I crouched up to cover it. WHAK. I blow to the back of my head. I realised I was in a fight, and I sprang up. I expected it to be another monster, sorry, mobile, but it wasn’t, it was another person. “Never sleep in the hut alone” he said “You could get killed” and with that he swung a pick at my head, which I managed to duck. “Why are you doing this” I asked “I’ve done nothing to you”. “I hear your that guy who squashed a wizz, and you don’t know much about this place” he tried to bring the pick down on my head but I blocked it and threw him away, “well let me explain something to you” he continued. As he spoke I made a telepathic plee to Cora and Foz to come and help. “I, am a Player Killer. I spend my time getting good kit, a few wafers, and attacking unsuspecting people. I do this to gain points. I like what I do. You could say, im helping to make sure that only the most skilled people make it to level 11”. He rushed at me again but I managed to dodge his initial attack, however he managed to catch a loose blow to my back with his elbow. “So im simply testing your skill and experience” he added. This guy is serious I thought, I have to get out of here. I fled out of the hut but he chased me out. He attacked again swinging his pick around savagely. A loose kick forced me to the ground, and he raised his pick for the final blow. “A good fight, but nowhere near good enough to survive long in mud” I heard running from a distance, possibly Cora or Foz but there to far away, and it would be too late. The pick sliced through my body, and everything went cold, and dark.

I opened my eyes. I could not see anything. My whole being felt tingling all over. The world refocused, and, yep you have guessed it, I found myself back in the tearoom. I took a deep breath and smelled that tea filled air. I looked around and for once I did not see anyone, the place was deserted, not even that strange man who is usually here. I sipped my tea. How it got in my hands I do not know, but it was there, so I drank it. I decided to take a few minutes out from killing and, what was it called, swamping, and gather my thoughts. I still have to find out how I got here. I started pacing up and down. There must be an easier way then this to get home. Suddenly I heard a voice say “Oh hello again”. I reconsidered it as that strangeunnamed man. “now what do I keep telling you, get back out there and, and get some points. You have no time to be pacing the tea room worrying, that is for the mages to do, not for a, oh I see, oh well if at first you don’t succeed, don’t go sky diving and all that, so get back out there, and, do better this time”. This guy was really starting to irritate me. I turned around, ready to dish out my usually very sharp wit in his direction, but I didn’t have the chance, with a “Off you go again” from him, I was rekicked out of the door, and back into the land of mud.

I drank the water once more. I woke up. “Finally” I said “a swordsman at last, now, where is everyone?” I made my way to the rapids. There is always someone there passing by. I arrived, and it was completely deserted, where the hell was everyone. I shouted “is there anyone here”. My voice seemed to echo around the whole world and back, but there wasn’t any reply. “Someone answer me!” I shouted, and again, there was no reply. Where can everyone be? I can’t, be alone on this world. Can I?!

Where is everyone? Who was that strange killer? Where did the strange man come from in the tea room? I want the truth, you can’t handle the truth, oh well, there’s only one way to find out, and that’s see the next episode of...
